Born in Newcastle-Under-Lyme in 1953, son of the welsh sculptor Jack Llewelyn Waldron (1923-1984). Studied at Stourbridge College of Art and Wolverhampton.
Waldron has worked as a professional artist, showing and selling his work internationally. Since 1983, he has exhibited regularly in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
His work has been purchased for many private collections worldwide also the public collections of the West Midlands Art Association and Basildon Arts Trust.
Waldron's painting style has its roots in traditional techniques, with each piece of work having between twenty and thirty layers of translucent colour glazes, built up to achieve depth of tone and luminosity, with a finely worked and highly detailed finish.
Fast drying media such as acrylic or egg tempera are often used and the support is usually archival quality paper, board or prepared panel. Waldron constructs and hand finishes the frames for each individual painting, which he sees as integral to the overall presentation of the work.
The subjects depicted are personal and carefully chosen, whether this is material for a still life, a domestic interior, a much loved landscape or a portrait or nude study. |
